    Here is a pic from Richmond, Va that I took last weekend. The sign on the engine house used to read "RF&P" instead of "CSX". Yes, most of the units are GP40-2's... http://www.trainweb.org/ncrail/images/yardfull.jpg

    Is 4618 an SD40? It looks like variations abound on the CSX GP40-2s as well...

    Yes, 4618 is one of the remaining "unrebuilt" SD40's. They were all segregated out of the 83xx series into the 4600 series. There is also one behind CSX 6118. (I will try to get add'l pics posted). I think most of the SD40's are assigned to "yard duty". I saw one in Hamlet, N.C. with a SWMT (switcher "MATE").

    As far as the GP40-2's, yes, there are load of variations. They have several hundred made for various original roads over the entire production run.

    That's pretty neat that after 8 years (the time of your picture), they still hadn't removed the sign... *sigh* I wish CSX had left the RF&P alone and kept it as a subsidiary...
