I'm not normally big on product reviews, but here's one for you. I got an "EyeFi" on a whim, Eye-Fi Home.

It's a special 2G SD card that includes a WiFi chipset. Installation was dead simple. Plug it into my Mac, drag the application to the Applications folder, run it, enter the directory for photos to go to and my flickr account info, and boom, done. I put it in my Canon SD1000 and ran downstairs to take a picture of the dog.

Before I got back upstairs to my office it was already on my computer and on flickr. Of course it's also still on the camera as a standard picture. No fuss, no muss. No finding the cable. No waiting to import.

I'd been looking at the Canon solution, which requires buying a newer body, then a special battery grip adding almost $600 to the price of the camera. The Canon option gives me more (local) control; but doesn't have any integration with online photo solutions. The EyeFi is under $100 (I got mine on a promo special @Amazon).

Check it out, I think it represents a fundamental change in how people use their cameras, and may result in built in WiFi chips in more cameras in the near future as well.

That is very cool. Hope they bring it out in some other formats and with slightly larger capacity, it has the potential to become one of those killer products.

I have seen several people say it works just fine in a Compact Flash SD card adapter. Amazon has them for $20, so you could use it in a Compact Flash based camera.

More than 2G would be nice. Of course, if you're in range of your access point and run out of space you can always just reformat as the pictures have already been uploaded to the computer!

I'd wondered if experimenting with an adaptor was worthwhile, if someone's beaten me to it I'll have to give it a go.
