I'm back into n-scale model railroading just in time for Christmas. I had a layout, which was my first, sitting in the middle of our office. I guess it would be classified as a "table top" and was never truly happy with it. Well, on my day off I decided to move it into an area to tackle and change some of the things that I didn't like. Then it happened. I picked it up like I had so many times before, and buildings, cars, people fell to the floor like time ran out on the glue I used. Perfect ! About 4 hours later I had my layout completely disassembled. I salvaged a lot that I did like and discarded my mistakes. I thought about what I heard so many times and that Rome wasn't built in a day. I can't wait to get started and I'll be looking for great ideas on this forum.
The best way to deal with disaster is to see it as an opening for renewal. The Blitz got rid of many street configurations in London heldover from the Great Fire back in the 1600s, making way for a modernized city centre, and your dried glue makes way for a great new plan!
Hi Rutland, Welcome to the TrainBoard. I agree, some of the worst accidents are a hobbyist's best beginnings. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. BTW, I lived six years watching the Rut's NYC-bound milk train go by on the Corkscrew Division south out of Bennington.
Thanks for the greetings all. I am really looking forward to digging in and getting the trains running again. I've been looking around and getting some great ideas, from lighting up buildings to junk yard dogs. I am eager to step out of my "comfort zone" and do something totally different.
