Pretty sure that my motor is blown in my walthers life like proto 2000 2-8-8-2 and was wondering if anyone ever swapped the motors out and what motor they replaced it with. If not, looking for places to find replacement motors besides ebay

Atlas purchased the Life-Like line from Walthers, so maybe Atlas could provide what you need. You'll have to phone Atlas though, as no Life-Like parts are posted on their website.

You could likely get a replacement from NWSL though you may need to fabricate some type of mount. Could you take a photo of the motor and its current mount and drive connection? I'm sure we can figure something out!

I'll post some photos here shortly. I'm pretty sure I can make everything work once I get a motor. Now I just need to find one

The dimensions of the actual motor are 19Lx10Wx14H mm (used mm bc all the motor measurements I've seen online were mm). The total length with the drive shafts is 60mm. Thanks in advanced

At quick glance it looks like the Kato atlas motor but you would have to pull the flywheels and worm gear assemblies off and install on the new motor. It also resembles the con cor rivirossi big boy or challenger motor?

Contact Micro Loco Motion http://www.micro-loco-motion.com/home.html This guy has a bunch of small motors. He might be advise which motor will fit and advise you how best to replace it. Has some very nice motors.

Eldon passed away several weeks ago. Do not know who is keeping up the web site. They may still be in business ? ? ?

I expect you could get a mashima 1015 (1020 may be too big, and it seems your motor has flats at each end that sit in the frame/mount to hold in place) and use it with the existing drive couplings and all. The shafts on these small motors tend to be the same size. 1.5 mm. And yes, Eldon passed away shortly after helping me decide on a motor for a brass loco. I hope one day to know 1/10 what he knew.

Sorry but there's no one in line after Eldon.
