i saw what i believe tpo be a remote train the otehr day going through baltimore into the howard street tunnel. there appaeared to be no one in the units and the last car looked like a remote control car. i was just wondering if csx actually does run remote conttrol trains through baltimore and how often they do. why is there no need for a FRED on the end of them?

I don't think... they use remotes outside of the yards, do they? Or do they? I'll have to check with my Bayview Buddies to see if they know anything about this.

I've not heard of remotes used outside of some yard work. A remote could possibly be in a consist moved to another area to do more switching. Perhaps that's what you saw? Let us know what you learn Dave.
