I'm looking for recommendations from those who have purchased and installed commercially produced photo backdrops. I need 40 running feet of around the wall backdrop photos. There are vendors selling 8 x 14 inch photo sheets you patch together. Others are 5 or more running feet in a single photo scene.

I'm thinking of pasting the photo backdrop onto a sky blue foam core board.
I'm most interested in commercial and industrial photo backdrops with lots of loading docks and warehouse facilities.

Thanks in advance for your preferences and vendor recommendations.

I have used the Backdrop Warehouse backdrops on my layout. They are excellent photo backdrops. They are printed on heavy paper, heavier than wallpaper. I used vinale wallpaper paste to put them on Hardboard. 3 sections did a 10' run.

Luv the Backdrop Warehouse backdrop assortment... Hate their website! My suggestion is to spend some time on their website looking at the different prints, and then call them to consumate the deal.

Backdrop Warehouse comes in 12 foot rolls, and the ends can be nicely matched up. There are examples near the beginning of the Trainboard thread referenced in my signature of their Tehachapi paper.

As has been mentioned, their website royally sucks. But they are good folks and will help you to get exactly what you are looking for. And they are very expensive - but worth every penny!

    Jim's absolutely right...

They are costly, but are worth every penny.

It's not just the image on the photo backdrop that makes it a winner, but the the colors are slightly muted and the finish is very flat so there's no shining spots when lighting is directed on them.

I still have not seen many commercial photo backdrops that have blended well with the foreground scenery. There always seems to be a definate line between the 3-D and 2-D world. It seems that the faded backdrop often seems to form a distinctive boundary that really stands out. I often find that the faded backdrop is too faded for our richly colored N scale scenery. I would look out for backdrops that are just a little bit richer in color. You might consider taking your own photographs and blending them together using software. Then try taking them to a local shop that caters to the photographer. Sometimes these shops are able to print some larger and longer prints. Just food for thought.
