Does anyone have a book of Rock Island history?

If I have it correctly, in about 1917, they came out of a Then in 1933, they went back into receivership again. On January 1, 1948, they finally emerged once again from receivership.

Could someone confirm those dates? If true, they ate up a lot of years!

I thought we had some Rock Island fans here too. I now wish I'd kept my copy of Iron Road To Empire (c. 1953). :(

I just thought to check in my Handbook of American Railroads (c. 1951)

    Your summary looks accurate.

It reads "The road was bankrupt in 1915. Reorganization was consummated two years later on a basis insufficient to insure a sound capital structure, and bankruptcy occurred again in 1933. I was not until 1948 that reorganization was again consummated, this time on a more realistic basis, with drastic reduction in debt and interest charges."
