I've been in N scale since the early 70s. I'm a career railroader currently living in Maine and building my representation of the CMStP&P in the late 40s with a strong emphasis on passenger trains. Randy
Great to have you on board. Looking forward to your participation. Passenger trains are what I like also, freight is just background scenery for my passenger trains to pass.
Welcome Randy! My passenger train collection has been growing lately too. Easy to do with so many great model releases.
Glad to have you aboard TrainBoard. I'm also an N Scaler. Working on my new HCD layout. Godd to have experienced new members so I can pump them for information and help:tb-biggrin: See ya Ron
Thanks everyone. Feel free to pump at will . As soon as I figure out how to post pics I'll do my best to show everyone what I'm working on. So far my fleet consists of 270 Milwaukee road lightweight cars and with the new releases from Fox Valley I expect that number to rise. Most of the cars are built from brass car sides and core car kits. I have also been buying and sometimes selling new micro trains heavy weight cars. I have even sold some custom painted cars to Kirk Reddie and he gave me positive feedback so I guess I do a good enough job on the orange and maroon cars. Currently my projects are preparing buildings and whatnot to build a small layout. I am building a batch of Imagine that Chicago elevated kits and some Miniatures by Eric Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee interurban coaches and 4000 series El cars to populate the el. I have a small group of Bachmann Chicago streetcars to run beneath the el. I think there will be plenty happening !! I have enough of the Milwaukee roads fleet to run nearly the entire 1949 schedule. I need alot of staging so I'm trying to fit it all in . Randy
Welcome aboard Randy. Can you tell us a little bit as to why you model the Milwaukee Road? I as well as others I'm sure, are always interested in why we model what we model. Looking forward to your pictures.
The Milw is where I started my railroad career. Working with the old timers and listening to their story's kinda got me hooked. I would wonder through the buildings imagining what is was like when they were building cars and running Hiawatha's. After that I worked for various shortlines in Wisconsin that ran on ex Milwaukee road track. When I worked for the Wisconsin Central RR we also ran on the "valley" line so for many years it seemed like I always had some sort of connection to the Milwaukee. Now my only connection to the Milw is working with a couple of other ex Milw employees that are here in Maine. Currently I am on the ex Bangor and Aroostook RR. When I worked for the WICT in Janesville Wis. we ran an ex BAR BL-2 (#52) on the ex Milwaukee road "J" line, I never imagined then I would be working on the ex BAR here in Maine.
When did you move to maine???? I am still finding old WC and CN stuff with your name on it on the blue card. Here I thought you were still a member of Cartoon Network! Id love to work in BAR country.Pass me the lobster and butter please!
Good god , those documents are collectors items !! I was with the CN only about 2 years. I was invited to Maine by none other than WC Chairman E Burkhardt. I moved here around 2005 so it is possible that my name is still on blue cards if a locomotive was stored for a length of time. An interesting story is that we bought some old CN SD-40s from the CN auction a few years ago and when they got here in Maine and I looked at them my name was on several of the electrical cabinet components, seems like I'm being followed... Thanks for the memories, I'll never forget the WC, I loved working there. Randy
Wow Randy thats cool that Ed himself called you up! Yeah the blue card I saw your name on was towards the top,and I think this old hulk had sat around for a bit Glad your enjoying it out there!
