Another shot from Allentown, PA taken in October 1980 as SD-40 6350 (former PRR) enters the yard at Allen Interlocking. I heard Billy Joel's Allentown (from 1982) on the radio yesterday, so got to thinking about my visits there. Well, we're living here in Allentown And they're closing all the factories down Out in Bethlehem, they're killing time Filling out forms, standing in line
Ho hum, just another day on Sand Patch, 11/28/1981. Friends and I all piled into a car on Thanksgiving and drove from NJ to Cumberland, MD. The weather didn't cooperate, but we found plenty of trains. The 3771 is a GP-40. Railfanning was so different then. We walked throughout the property at Sand Patch, easily in sight of the Op at SA Tower. We played it smart, were always safe and the Op never called us out or phoned the police. SA closed in November 2001 and has since been demolished.
How is it now with new owners? looks like they got a good deal on blue paint. Even all the caboose cabins on the other side are blue.
It is a bit different. The blue paint caught me off guard, I don't like it. They did a lot of remodeling, some good, some bad (the blue paint ruins it for me, so disappointed).
