Some of these showed up about 1990, on the branch line behind my house, in western Washington. I might have even captured this one, or a sister, in BN green.
CR 6128 C40-8W at Sunbright TN. She was less than a year old when I caught her in this late 1991 photo
Just seven years later, that car - Priest Rapids - was burned by the Milwaukee Road in order to scrap it. I recall seeing this photo in an old copy of Trains magazine: http://www.trainweb.org/hiawatha/bpriest.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/hiawatha/priest.html
Love the wig wag crossing signal to the right in the CB&Q shot and the J centercabs. Although I saw plenty of J centercabs as a child, I caught only two on film as a teenager -- the 916 on a wreck train with my mother's Kodak Instamatic (01/07/1975) and the 924 with my Dad's Kodak Retina Reflex (04/17/1975), both at Barrington, IL. The 916 was sold for scrap 02/1976 and the 924 in 09/1975.
Here's a random group of pics for you MKT @ Chattanooga, KCS on Rich Mountain, and UP near Russellville Ar. All from 1990 give or take a year
