A few weekends ago, Metrorail in Austin, Texas was testing out their new Positive Train Control (PTC) system with a borrowed Austin Western locomotive. It was parked in the hole at the Leander Metro station when we coasted by on the Hill Country Flyer.

I saw this Union Pacific train going east at the Kenosha St. crossing in Broken Arrow Oklahoma on 10/25/19. There was about 50 railcars altogether, usually the train runs through town at 2:00 or 3:00am but that day it went through about 6:00pm. Joe

Man, what a great shot. Note the mix of position light and lower quadrant semaphore signals. By the end of 1901, the PRR had acquired 39% of N&W and had four Directors on N&W's Board. In the decades that followed, the PRR influenced N&W's interests, including signaling. This resulted in PRR position light signals replacing N&W semaphore signals.
Great photo. Eighteen years later I stood on the same platform in the upper left as a similar train passed going in the same direction while my camera sat on my car's seat a few feet away.
