The UP keeps a number of old heritage ballast hoppers around. I was going to say "maintains a number" however, I don't think they put much into them to keep them rolling.

How is this service doing today? Thinking I recently read something about it falling below expectations?
Well, when we were there, they did not run on weekends when they could fill the trains with Albuquerque residents wanting to go to Santa Fe for a meal and a night out and tourist wanting to just visit. Only catered to commuters between the two cities on work days.

Agree. This is also what I understand about name/logo trademarks. However, if you see an M&St.L, I question that one. I thought those remained with the parent company, when C&NW acquired the "Louie". Have seen this discussed in historical forums, with the same conclusions.
