The Summer of 1967 I was a extra train order operator on the B&O. I worked on the P&W Sub from FY Tower, which was located where you showed the industrial lead connection to the Allegheny River bridge in your opening video segment, to Eidenau where the connection to the B&O's Buffalo Division was. In 1967 the P&W was a double track railroad for its entire distance. I also worked the operator positions at Etna, Bakerstown as well as Eidenau that Summer.

Since 1967 was in the pre EPA days, there were next to no environmental concerns from the business's in operation at the time. Herr's Island, the island that the B&O's Allegheny River bridge passes over what home to a animal rendering plant - every afternoon at 6 PM they would pump the fluids generated in their business straight into the river. When working FY Tower, if you had not consumed your lunch by 6 PM, the smell would prevent you from eating it until after you were relieved and had departed the premises.
