Just a quick question. No hurry here... My photo uploads to railimages appear to work correctly, but they don't show up. Been a couple of days waiting to see, just in case they were sitting in an approval queue. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks, Bob
File Size Limit One quirk of RailImages is when you try to upload an image larger then then 1 Meg limit it stops processing but does not give you an error message telling you this was the reason. Try resizeing your image down to say around 900x600 first as this is normally all it seems to take to get images down under 1M. Let me know if this solves your issue... :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
Fitz, You must have been watching me a couple of times when I tried to upload. I've forgotten the "process" button more than once. :tb-biggrin: Adam
Jerry, do you have IRFanview? Charlie recommended it years ago, it's free to download from the net, and I use it all the time. It's fast and efficient. You can even do some "mini-photoshopping" with it, color and gamma corrections, etc. As far as resizing it's a one step operation. I thank Charlie for recommending it. :tb-biggrin:
Camera Gurus: Isn't there a way to set preferences in a camera so the camera takes "smaller" pictures rather than larger ones with higher Kb counts? What heading in our camera menus or manuals should we look under to find out how to adjust those settings?
Dave- I'd guess there should be in many cameras. But am not certain how small. I shoot mine in a JPG format that ends up being right around 900KB. Then save that version, and downsize a second for any uploading. To under 100KB, as that's the cutoff for many formats allowed by current RI software. So I have both the original higher quality to use later and a reduced as well. I have used IrfanView for years in resizing, and more. Very nice and well known freeware. Boxcab E50
Dave, what camera are you using? The Nikon and Cannon DSLRs come with thick manuals and you can select many smaller sizes. My own philosophy is to shoot them big, such that great prints can be made, and then use IRFanView to shrink them to email size. :tb-biggrin:
