There's a lot of good stuff this week. Phillip H's graffiti shot is great. The NS Interstate heritage unit, the EBSR SD and the Katy Geep are very cool, but that NS Southern heritage unit really pops. I was also wondering about the blue unit behind it. That looks very attractive, too. Wondering whose ii is?
That blue and grey unit is Georgia railroad. Long since absorbed in to Family Lines and on up to CSX. Here is a pic from a few weeks earlier. It was pretty much freshly painted but had not been lettered at this point.
Unfortunately, no, Jim. That operation long post-dates the use of flimsies. I wish.... Nor do I have any from that line for it's predecessor, the New York Central RR.
Very nice looking diesel. Love that rich blue and gray, especially when set next to the Southern green.
It is a nice scheme. That was as delivered. Later the Georgia RR went to an all black scheme with yellow lettering. Did catch one in the black and yellow back in the mid 80's but never got to see one in the wild in the blue and grey.

Here you go Tom, this is that steamer you can see in the pic. This was on a different visit and you can see the Georgia RR letting had been applied to the geep at that point. Really don't know anything about the history of this engine. The plaque on the side says GENERAL II While were at it a couple of other steamers are at this location as well She is lettered for the Chattahoochee Valley Railway Company This steamer is one some of you all may know but she is almost never outside, S&A #750 And in the search for these, I did find one full broadside of the geep after lettering.
Zowie BNSF FAN -- all super nice images above! I found that CV 21 is a former TA&G locomotive, bought new in 1924 and sold to the CV in 1935. The CV shut in 1992 after 95 years of operation. I found their SW-1500 101 at West Point, GA on 09/23/1984.
It was built for the Red River & Gulf RR as #104. Ended up at the Stone Mountain Georgia tourist railroad.
Thanks much to everyone who provided information. Later 4-4-0's are really cool to see. They were living dinosaurs but probably very handy and useful for light railed shortlines and branches. Although this one has piston valves, that was not always the case, surprising since the cost of manufacturing and maintaining slide valves is considerably higher. Great place to visit. Lots to see.
