It's been up for sale for some time now. Currently, the 2 buyers that are still in the bidding process are Genesee and Wyoming and Watco.

G&W would be interesting at least out here in Nor-Cal/PacNW, because it would mean the possible combination of PNWR and CORP. I'm not sure there is or isn't a compelling business plan to operate these as a single unit beyond the management office, but it would be possible.

I'd like to see a couple of maps. One each for RA & Watco, RA plus G&W. To see their potential places of interaction, or what are known as "common points". Just to see how many there would be and what could possibly result.

I would have to guess that PNWR/CORP is on a short list. I'd imagine most shorts and regionals in conglomorates don't interchange with other shorts and regionals.

Even in the mentioned case, i'd need a map of Eugene, because I'm not sure they interchange without using UP in between.

Saw that in the trainboard newswire. My friend who collects n scale engines in G7W schemes is going to have to go on a buying spree.

Your friend would probably like to have my FCRD mp15dc then, even though the FCRD does'nt have an mp15dc.

You do realize this thread is 8 months old right? G&W finalized this sale 3 months ago.

I am reading here and there that Patriot Rail has really changed operations since taking over.

Yes things have changed quite dramatically since Patriot took over. I wont go into too much detail since this is not a thread about Weyco. Yes the line past Landfill (not Headquarters as previouslly mentioned) has been abandoned and ripped out. All the SWs are gone and now CLC operates the line with 5 GP 38-2s, that I am being told are worn out junk!

To be honest, my opinion of Rail America is so low it's not even funny. When I lived in Ashland everyone complained about CORP's service and lack of track maintenance. Add to that the big to do over the abandonment at Coos Bay and you get the picture. Any word if CORP will be merged into W&P?

Also, just thinking, I wonder if the Coos Bay lawsuit had anything to do with the sell...
