In 1982 the QA&P had one active full crew (engineer, fireman, conductor, and 2 brakemen). When the job was bulletined for a rail train to haul out materials from the abandoned portion of the QA&P, the fireman, conductor, and senior brakeman got the bid (this job paid more). That left the regular fireman, a fireman from the reserve list, the junior brakeman, and me (borrowed from the OKC board) to operate the switcher in Quanah. As one of the last people to work on the QA&P I say all of that to say this: "who wants to buy all of my QA&P collection? I am curious to know if there is anyone alive who would be interested in this stuff." I have QA&P ashtrays, postcards, an unopened deck of playing cards, switch lists, and other things that sit in a drawer and have not seen daylight in 18 years.

I'm interested! But, $$$ are few these days! I'm a big QA&P fan.

By the way, welcome aboard! Nice to have an actual QA&P employee on board!

I'm lucky to have the book "The Quanah Route", plus a copy of the SG Video production "Ship IT in the Frisco!", which features the last run of the QA&P eastbound , plus (sadly) the salvage train taking up rail.

What are you talking about in the way of items, and how much do you want? Email me off-list when you get time.. [IMG]

I might also be interested in some of those items--switchlists in particular. Is everything going in one lot? Do you have a complete inventory of what you have or what you might want for it? I've visited the terrirory and done some photographing, but the only QAP printed material I have are the single pages in Frisco timetables devoted to the QAP.

    Howdy Men,
I have decided to hang this stuff out on an Ebay auction, and may the best man win. A preview of what is at stake in the way of QA&P items: an unopened double deck of Canasta cards with Quanah Parker's photograph on the backs. A glass ashtray with the QAP symbol on it. A four page summary of the formation of the QAP written by president Charles Sommer. An old brakeman's lantern that has no QAP markings, but was issued to a QAP brakeman in the 60's and I used it, too. Its operation today is questionable.
I am also going to auction off my old brakeman's bag that I carried on all my jobs: technically, it's all BN issue, but the Frisco still had its identity intact at that time. The bag contains all the timetables, special instructions, rule books, manuals, even a UTU pay schedule for Frisco trainservice, plus an old SLSF, QAP timetable from 1969 I used to carry to identify all the old abandoned stations on each sub. (you should compare the list of stations on the Chickasha sub in 1969 with the list from 1981). It's everything I used to carry xcept a change of clothes, my rain suit and a can of snuff. There is even a BN switchkey, and some misc paper. The bag itself is an Spalding sports bag with embroidered patches sewn on of BN, SLSF, and QAP.

P.S. all of my QAP books are already gone. The ONLY thing I am keeping is a page or two of notes containing dates, names, and places that were part of those last QAP days; stuff that takes place after the Don Hofsommer book ends. When this goes to auction this week, a search for: trainbooks@hotmail.com should get you there. I'm done.

The QA&P auction is under way on Ebay, search for item #540501743. I hope the winner enjoys this stuff at least half as much as I did.

Congratulations to the winning bidder, if you happen to be a member of this forum. I was pleased with the auction, and you the winner, will get much more than what you bid on.
