PS1 and PS2 covered hoppers

What were the primary commodities these cars haul/hauled? I know about non-food such as cement, fertilzer. But what else?

 

Specialty sands, soda ash, pot ash, plaster, perlite. Many other high density products.

 

Were they ever used in grain service?

 

PS1 or PS2 covered hoppers had different cu-ft designs, the higher cu-ft designs I would not say they never hauled grain. Perhaps you could narrow down your query a bit.
