I'm guessing that by it's name, it preceeded the Wabash Railroad- What happen to, or when did the Wabash, St.Louis & Pacific RY become part of the Wabash RR? Or was the WSt.L&P reorganzied as the Wabash RR? If so, anyone have a solid date? BoxcabE50
Well, we got lucky. Here is what I found.
The Wabash was a consolidation of several different railroad lines. The Lake Erie, Wabash and St. Louis (organized in 1853) and the Toledo and Illinois (also organized in 1853) consolidated in 1856 to form the Toledo, Wabash and Western. In 1877 the TW&W was reorganized under the name of Wabash. In 1879 the Wabash consolidated with the St. Louis, Kansas City, and Northern to form the Wabash, St. Louis and Pacific Railway. In 1889 it was again reorganized as the Wabash Railroad Company.

SOURCE
