CP has BNSF SD70ACe's in their routes at this moment for testing. Could this mean more of these bad ass units will be seen in Red now too?
Highly unlikely. CP has tested the SD70ACe's twice now - once in 2005 with the original blue & white demo units, and again more recently with the BNSF units. Both times the EMDs couldn't measure up against the GEs in terms of reliability or pulling power. EMD pushed hard for CP to buy these units - even commissioned a one of a kind custom-painted OMI brass SD70ACe in CP beaver paint (road number 9200) which was raffled off to CP employees during the first test cycle back in 2005. The guy who won it turned around and sold it for over $4000.00 Cdn.
