Pere Marquette 1225 Steam Locomotive Excursion from Owosso,MI to Cadillac,MI August 16 & 17, 2003 This overnight run will be an interactive educational program by the Steam Railroading Institute and Lake Central Rail Tours in cooperation with the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railway Company, Inc. Tickets are on sale now through Lake Central Rail Tours. Rarely has the city of Cadillac, Michigan been visited by a locomotive as large as the 400 ton, 101 foot Pere Marquette 1225 steam locomotive. Come this August, the 62 year old locomotive will visit the northern Michigan town pulling her passengers on an overnight excursion. Ride the former Ann Arbor Railroad line from Owosso,MI to Cadillac,MI (240 Mile R/T) behind the Pere Marquette 1225 Berkshire-class locomotive. Coach class riders will ride in 1950s Canadian National Railway Long Distance coaches. First class riders will be treated to four meals and ride aboard 1950s lounge cars. Stay the weekend with lodging provided in Cadillac or ride just Saturday taking the train north and returning to Owosso by bus. Short trips from Cadillac to Yuma and returning will also be available each day.
