Joe, I just realized I mixed up locos. I actually have the 0-8-0 in the locomotive works now. The 2-6-0 in the picture is a Marklin Mikado shell, with a section of the boiler cut out in front of the cab. Some additional parts like a generator, compressor, brake line coils, and backup mechanism were added. Scott
The picture is a 2-8-0 the shell is mikado cut to fit the marklin 2-8-0 mech but I don’t see the seams. And it looks cylinders were used from mikado but made to fit.
Joe, My dad used just the Marklin Mikado shell, and placed it onto the 0-8-0 #88982. He cut back the bottom plate in front, and added the pilot truck, to create the 2-8-0. Notice that the tender is from the Mikado. Scott
Did some graphic work in Illustrator and Photoshop to give detail to the cylinder shop behind the arches. I created the window panes and overhead pulley system in Illustrator. I brought the Illustrator line work into Photoshop to add shadows and color on the drive belts. The images of machines are from various journals and brochures of the 1890s-1900s. The people are form images of the locomotive works and other factories. All the images are scaled down to Z scale. I think it fills in the arches nicely. Scott
That's a great idea, and it looks good! Should be able to see that from the outside with some lighting!
