I've have heard a couple of rumors of someone doing a SD40T2 in plastic to fit on a SD50/60 frame. Anyone know anything about this, I would alway love to have another Tunnel Motor David
My bet would be no, because KATO has their T-motors out, in plastic (though a little pricey). JnJ has also done shells for tunnel motors. These would be resin cast, not plastic, but from my experience with their GP 15-1's, these are decent shells. By the way, welcome aboard! ------------------ Jenks - the REAL Big Blue [This message has been edited by Eagle2 (edited 14 September 2000).]
I would think that if any one is going to do them it would be Atlas because the SD60 and the tunnel motors are so close in length (they almost already have the mechanism). The length of the tunnel motor is 70' 8" and the length of the SD60 is 71' 2". So not much difference there. If Kato did end up doing them, they wouldn't be out for sometime seeing how they already anounced what is coming out for a while now. Just my 2 cents.. ------------------ Craig Martyn Best Looking Models Around Custom detailing AND N scale detail parts. BLMA N Scale Detail Parts
DUH!! What am I thinking!! I'm referring to the snoots. Yes, if you want to go T-motor, JnJ is the way to go, on an Atlas SD60 chasis. You'll have to play with the fuel tank and trucks, I'm sure, but it could be done. ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
When you mentioned the Tunnel Motors were out, i thought i was really out of the loop- First, Kato had the AC4400 and now a SD40T-2?

This comment was a joke off of an earlier post where someone had mentioned they had a Kato AC44. Which Kato has never made. Then someone mentioned their Tunnel Motor which they have never made as well. The joke part was that i am well aware of what's out there and if these 2 models were being made then maybe i wasn't so attentive as i thought...
