Hello... I have a question for the group, please.... I saw that Rokuhan makes 3 kinds of train cases. Which would be the best for me if I have 6 MTL 40 foot boxcars? It's not really to them carry around, more for just holding them and protecting them. As always, thanks for your help. I know that the shipping is a fortune, if you have any other suggestions.

I think most of the English-speaking side of the planet hasn't seen these.

The 2 that might work for box cars are the 21m and 20m versions. 21m to feet is 68 feet. 20m to feet is 65 feet.

You're using 40 foot box cars? They will be loose with either one.

The 3rd one is for tank cars and don't seem to be congruent with the shape of box cars.

Summary is - the Rokuhan cases are best-suited for Rokuhan cars. This is why the US distributor hasn't brought them in - we don't sell many Rokuhan sets here in the US and the sets I've sold already included cases.

If i were you and you really want to push through with this - contact the US Rokuhan distributor. He might be willing to bring them in for you ...

Search for "jewelry storage tray". Many different configurations, felt lined trays, and ways to stack and transport also. Been using them for my Z scale trains for years. I think this would serve your purposes better.

As mentioned above, jewelers trays are perfect for Z. I bought mine at a jewelry supply store nilecorp. also have other neat jewelry tools/supplies:
    1. Cheapest option, plastic nest, no carry (tray vacuum-formed flocked plastic) will bend if picked up with train cars pic1
    2. Carry #1 around, the jewelry tray
    3. picture of 1 and 2 assembled
    4. Picture of tray/nest above loaded with z
    5. Protect from dust? nest in jewelry "case" (tray) hinged with clasp and glass lid
    6. Need more trays with dust protection? by the time you get to these products, you have way too many z trains.

The cary cases come in several sizes with both soft and hard sides, The same trays fit most and the tray inserts have a bunch of different configurations. The 6 , 7 , and 10 section tray inserts tend to work best. for unboxed cars and loco's.
The plastic trays themselves also come in different heights 1 inch 1.5 inch 2 inch and 3 inch. They are all interchangeable and stack well together.
I myself have several of the soft sided Cary Cases and several of the taller trays. The lined inserts work best in the 1 inch trays. I use some of the taller trays for my Locomotives which I keep in their Original boxes, As I feel the factory Nest offers the best protections.

Search ebay and Amazon for "jewelry tray carrying case" and do your homework prices can vary widely from one dealer to the next. Also pay attention to the details some come with trays and inserts some don't and some offer a variety of insert tray choices.
