WOW, it's been a long while !!, but I am glad to visit and post this question.
I am now able to take old film strips and put them on my PC but I am not able to edit these photos effectly.
Is there someone who can give me some info as to what kind of program I can purchase so I can fix up these older photos, black or white.
    Thanks for the info.
    Joseph.

Joseph, try IRFanview, which is free, and available for downloading-just do a Google search for it. You can crop, change contrast, brightness, color saturation. I have been using it for as long as I have been on the net, about 15 years, and am very happy with it. On the other hand you can spend $$$$ and get Photoshop. There are others out there and I'm sure the users of them will chime in here. Ah, the memory just released the name I was trying to think of--Picasso. It may also be free, I don't know. :tb-biggrin:

Unfortunatly we lost Watash I think in 2010. Posting this from my phone, so I can't look it up.

Yeah, Joseph, we lost Watash in March 2010. I'm sorry to hear of your health problems. This aging process is certainly no fun. :tb-sad:

I have Picasa 3 with Piknik and it is available via Google. Just google it and it should pop up with a way to download it. It is FREE.

This is another excellent free program, which is very similar to Photoshop...

I would suggest Photoshop Elements. It is much, much cheaper than the professional version of Photoshop and still has all the important features. Just FYI.

koolmath5, Welcome to Trainboard! From your first two posts I see you are interested in photography and digital photo processing. I bought a MAC a few years ago and was disappointed that IRfanview did not offer a MAC compatible version, so have of necessity learned to resize with Photoshop Elements. The process is completely different, but by experimenting I have managed to achieve the same results as IRfanview produced on PC.

Lightroom 5 is what i use for my digital work. Though shooting in RAW will give the best results in editing, it will still work OK in jpeg as well.

+1 for LR5. I use it for my photog business. It's great for processing negatives as I used it after I scanned in my grandparents boxes of them.

The he best reason to get LR is because it is multiple software solutions in 1. Processing, Cataloging, Printing are top 3
