Back in the late 1960's a Mr. Alfred Pearlman took over as president of the Western Pacific. One of the first things he did was replace the classy Orange and Silver paint on locomotives with a dark green paint called "Pearlman Green" Us railfans promptly named it "Pearlman Puke. It just didn't measure up to teh Orange and Silver it replaced 3010 6-71 PortolaCA Cliff West.jpg 3008 5-24-77 PittsburgCACliffWest1200.jpg

Interesting! I'd always associated him with the NYC.

That shade of green almost always looked to me as if it were black. :(

Interesting headlight configuration on those GP35's

Originally the GP-35's had a single lense headlight that was replaced with the twin sealed beam lights later on.

Almost has a "tactical" feel to the paint job...

The GP-35's used this type of headlight originally. It was recessed between the numberboards instead of sticking out like on this Geep 713 1-74 Cliff West Col.jpg

I'm really hoping Micro-Trains will release their SW1500 in WP colors. My buddy Chuck seems to be pretty positive they will.

Yeah the green just looked somber to me, that's a good picture of 1503, I think it looks better on switchers than it did on the road units, WP is almost always silver and orange in my head.

The only orange and silver units that I've seen are in museums. I don't remember seeing any New Image units, either. I did see ex WP that were repainted in UP colors. Somewhere I have photos of one of the F units and a GP7 being stored in Oakland.

An email received from MT a few months ago said that WP is being considered.

I look back at 918 and I'm shocked by how sorry she looked back then.

In my model train collection I have fourteen WP locomotives. All are in "Pearlman Puke" though. IMG_502.JPG IMG_503.JPG IMG_499.JPG IMG_500.JPG
