    Hey all,

Got a question for Pennys fans out there. We are releasing some of our passenger cars in PRR in the up comming months and am researching what to do with our 70' baggage car. My research only shows different types of heavyweights, but am looking for something within fudge range for our lightweight version. Anyone have any leads?

    Thanks in advance.

I will look deeper, but the only lightweight baggage cars that I can think of that the pennsy had were baggage/dormatory or baggage/mail. But, I will keep looking.

    P.S.- how's about a pennsy GP9? Just kidding. can't hurt to ask.

You could always paint it for Milwaukee Road instead.....

You could just squint while you are looking at their great northern release.

Back on topic... Well, I couldn't find any pictures, either. I did find a reference to an order to Pullman Standard that included a couple of 72' baggage cars, but no further description. I does seem that several HO and N scale manufacturers have Pennsy 72' smooth side baggage cars (mostly PS), but that doesn't mean anything. My passenger resources are fairly limited, so hopefully a Pennsy passenger fan picks up the ball on this one.

    Kurt and Dan,
I could always put a black hood over my face and accost Joe as he comes out the door at MTL. I could say I'm from the members of the Milwaukee and PRR fan club and they are making a demand for certain product and I'm to solicit a promise from Joe to do as you wish or I'm to give him 20 whacks with my stick?)

I'll bet that if Joe had more sway at MTL he would likely meet the wishes of most requesters..

Thanks for the offer, Loren, but everyone knows that Marketing rarely listens to Engineering, anyway. You'd just wind up feeling guilty and have to buy Joe more pie.

Subtle, Joe. very subtle. Looks like I'll be needing to search the couch for change.

    Pennsy baggage

    Goodaye Joe,
i had a quick look through some of my Pennsy books and the nearest i can find is a B60b. This car has rounded roof ends and some external rivetting with two horizontal bars running full length which could be imitated with a couple of layers of paint. Some have twin windows in the doors which only requires a small vertical bar to fix, while others have an oval window. Some also have roof ventilators and some do not. I have 7 pics, in three books, of the B60b including two in colour, and i have been doing a comparison between the pictures in the books and some big pics from Anthony J. W's website of your releases and besides the obvious difference of ten feet in length I for one would be happy to have a fudged version in Pennsylvania colours to add to my roster.
I live in Australia so i cant offer to lend you the books but if you are interested i can give you titles and details.
    Hope this helps.

    Joe,
I have come to the conclusion that the only lightweight baggage cars that the Pennsy had were all combines of sorts. Baggage/Mail, baggage dormatory, etc. By the time lightweights came out, the Pennsy already had a couple of thousand heavyweight baggage cars. I guess they found no reason to replace them. But, it seems that several other manufacturers in other scales offer a 72' pullman baggage in Pennsy. I'm with Eliot on this one. So what if it's a fantasy car. There's nothing else out there, and we need somplace to put the luggage.
