After trying many different ways to paint the trim on N Scale WS buildings my head is starting to look like Rick's on Pawn Stars.

Have tried 6 or 7 different kinds of tapes and various types and sizes of brushes (with and without tape). Tried several different types of paint.

Can't seem to get anything, windows, trim, etc. painted without bleeding into the brick mortar joints or just in general, getting a good paint job on things like windows and trims.

Any thoughts or better ways would be VERY appreciated. Would hate to glue them to the layout with all the trim the same color of the brick but I'm going that way soon (before I tear what hair I have left out).

I'll certainly try that. Gotta admit, that's one way I hadn't thought of.

Yes. Do try a toothpick. It has worked well for me in some past projects.

I have a very fine brush with only a few bristles that I use for the smallest details. I work in HO, but still occasionally have things like figures to paint. The best tool for me isn't something to make the brush smaller, but rather something to make the model "larger." I bought a cheap magnifier lamp, like really cheap, about $15. It's got a small fluorescent circular lamp around a magnifying glass. By seeing the model better, I get a much nicer paint job.

Paint the entire building with a spray can that is the color you want the trim, then just paint the brick over this "primer" coat with the brick color you want.

Lowes has some spray cans specially formulated for plastics, probably many others as well.

I have this pill I take and it shrinks me down to N scale. I then use a ladder and paint brush. The only problem is my dress doesn't shrink. So I just do without it.

I know I took one of those pills at a Grateful Dead concert years ago...Never thought of a model RR application for them.

Back on subject: I use a 5-0 or 10-0 brush to paint the details. I just tried the suggestion of spray painting the building the window/door color and then painting the bricks--works well. So your choice, 10-0 brush or spray the entire and paint the brick with a brush.
