Another fan option that I've been reading about for DiY spray booths is to use a bilge blower. They are relatively cheap, and there is obviously no sparking risk since they are designed to handle gasoline fumes.
Wow. I never even thought of that possibility. I'll see what transpires. I've some pieces accumulated already. Maybe this weekend will start playing with them.
Just remember that a bilge blower runs on DC. However, a 12v 5A AC-DC power supply shouldn't cost more than $20 with shipping.
I do have an accessory (DC) power supply which I built years ago. Right now I am leaning toward a 70cfm bath fan.
Ken, one thing to try if your store has it is a Scones test. You will want a quiet fan. More $$$, but less noise. A 5 is alot quieter than a 3. The one in my new booth is a 4.5 I think.
Art- I will need to look at the box, and see if it shows a rating. What I chose does seem quiet enough for me, but then my hearing is over 50% gone... My project is completed now. I will try to get some photos after lunch.
I have some pictures taken. Darned camera just does not like indoor photography! Flash or not, it gives me fits. Some angles just will not shoot clearly enough. Anyhow, there's a football game I want to watch, and afterward I'll get a page created.
Well, I've fiddled and played with my camera far too long this evening. It simply will not cooperate. So, here are the poor results of those efforts. Hopefully everyone can see what I assembled: http://www.train-orders.com/MRR/PAINT/PAINT.html
