Greatdrivermiles you can see more picture in my album here: http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?media/users/eugen-haenseler.1836/albums I have to look about the new surroundings in this forum. It’s not so easy for me! Give me time and I think I will manage it!?
Your shot reminds me of some modeling of Old L.A. Bob Smaus did some years back... he included some track in streets on his module and it was loaded with detail just as your scene is...
Yes Jerry Bob was my archetype! Years ago I visited him in Los Angeles and had a look to his new Layout. I built my N-Scale Layout after Bob’s article in the Model Railroader. The same I did with the Caliente Layout. Prototype was the article in MR from the Railroad club in San Diego: Switzerland is to bloody far away from the greatest Train spot’s over there!
5.8 x 2 Meter Caliente its 2 x 1Meter Old Part of Los Angeles 1.8 x 0.5 Meter The Roundhouse 2 x 1 Meter The new Diesel Fasility 3.5 x 0.5 Meter
Same here. Been doing it for almost 43 years now. A lot of fun, and that's not just models, but also the people.
Fantastic modeling! I'm assuming the sand towers are scratch built? And....do I see sand filler hoses actually hooked up to sand fillers??
The video on the top was taken from a visitor when I showed my layout there on the Eurospoor expedition.
That's very well done, and when I first saw the video, I thought it was HO, which says something about the detail and execution. I think you have some additional possibilities there, based on the video -- I couldn't get a good enough view of the downtown area from it, but it looks like you might have an opportunity to detail the 3-track line going through to look a little like the Alameda Corridor, and maybe make the river look a little more like the Los Angeles River bed. There's another good layout based on Los Angeles at http://lariverrailroads.com/train_layout.html I hope you'll post more on this layout!
Hi Brad The only one I know is the convention in Frankfurt. http://www.us-convention-brd.de/ And also the http://www.faszination-modellbau.de/faszination-modellbau/
Yes Tehachapifan The sand towers are scratch built from brass And the sand filler hoses actually hooked up! ( but only on the top! ) I got the idea from a Trip to Stockton
