Railfanning at Oakland MD, a few days ago, I was surprised to see the signal near the pretty depot there come on, green. Green light..must be a train approaching. Sure enough, here she comes, a coal drag. Not much dragging here, it's moving, ramping up, heading out of Oakland. Light's still green, as CW44AC 71 and SD MAC 70 774 pass. Light changes to red almost as soon as the first car gets to the signal. This train is hauling loads, and soon will be at Altmont, the beginning of 17 mile grade...the dynamics will howl as the train stays under the max speed of 25 mph down grade, with that heavy load shoving at the diesels. You gotta get to HO tower across the river from Hancock, Maryland sometime. Last Armstrong lever tower in the country there. B&O CPLs, too.
Nice shots, Ed... I don't think I have any B&O signal shots,,,, in fact, the closest thing I have is N&W signals Thanks for sharing! Harold
