I am noticing lately (the last 2 or 3 days) that, although I keep a trainboard tab open, when I switch forums, or refresh after spending time on another tab, I iam asked to sign in. I seem to be signed in, but when I go to reply, I need to sign in again.
It could be something in my ie 8 settings, but is anyone else seeing this?

When you sign in, there is a box right there in that same sign-in area that says "Keep me signed in" or "Remember me" or something like that. Be sure that box is checked if you want to keep signed in; otherwise, it is just like signing out when you leave. TB deletes all your TB cookies when you sign out.

Try that. Hope it helps. We can get expert help in here, though.

I always have to log back in, even when I check the "remember me" box. I use another VBulletin site that has remembered me for years - literally - yet not here.
Not a big deal other than a minor annoyance.

I think this is a good thing....otherwise there would eventually be a problem with the server's resources being tied up by people who are logged in, but idle or who have the site minimized on their computers. this would cause problems for others to "log-in".

The little box goodie, checking it... doesn't work for me.

I had to go into Firefox, my browser and set it up to remember passwords in order to get access to all the websites I visit. When I click in... it automatically checks my bags in and allows me to enter my room, without stopping at the service counter or something like that. Grin!

You will need your cookies to do that...don't delete.

    Yep!

    Yes it can.

There is a killer virus out there. It got into and infected a brand new computer of mine and effectively killed it. This despite the security package that I paid for. I took it to a computer repair joint and the expert said there was no way he could fix it. It would shut down without warning. I kissed it good bye!

    So, yes it can.

Actually, this is not the case. Cookies only cause a person to be recognized when they click. The server is not otherwise aware that you are logged in.
