    I just got my newest issue of Diesel Era in the mail and the "Railnews" section has a bunch of different former NS locos in action. One is TRCX 815, which is a former GP49 and now belongs to Tri-County Rail in Florida.

    IIRC, all six of the 39X/49s went to Tri-Rail. They had their hoods chopped

    I was thinking that that was at least the intention, but clearly this unit had not had the chop job, as of the photo, 11/7/04.

    I don't think any of them have! They were supposed to be rebuilt with chopped noses and head-end power, but nothing anywhere shows this as having happened yet...
