I saw one of these for the first time today: How many does NS have versus how many are out there in general? Harold ------------------ Harold Hodnett Fan of NS, CSX, and their predecessors! Coming soon: The North Carolina Railfan Web Site http://www.trainweb.org/ncrail/
I don't know how many NS owns but I see these along with many owned by TTX at the GM plant here in Arlington, TX all the time. As far as I know, only NS and TTX own any of these cars. Here a pic of one that I took a few weeks ago. ------------------ Mike Drzycimski Arlington, TX The Southview Lines [This message has been edited by mdrzycimski (edited 17 January 2001).]
Mike, is that a diaphram in between the two car bodies? Is it to keep people from gettin into the autos on board? ------------------ Watash #982 "See you in the Pit"
I read about these in a model railroader issue about these. BNSF and CSX also has orders for these. Heck they've articlulated about every thing. These are a little like 5 TOFC cars articlulated together and had an articlulated body to fit on top of. These make for faster loading and unloading because, they don't have to go the the ends of cars to open the doors, drop the foot plates and drive the car in, not they just open the end door drive 'em in and close the doors and they're done. the wheels maybe the newer 125 ton trucks, and have an air cushioned truck boots (this is only a recollection from that issue.) ------------------ TrainBoard.com MEMBER#204 N.A.R.A.
