Lots of great stuff on this thread...but it's made my head spin with deciding what to do now on my new N scale track plans... Not quite the size of your space but a similar issue with my U shape three 3'x8' sections, been toying with multiple yards and or longer main line loops with single yard and more business. My old set I had Helix up to about 7inch for more mountainous activity but not sure want to go through all that again. Thanks for sharing some ideas.
Options, options, options - Part of the reason I went for some pro help for the foot print and mainline layout. Narrowed it down somewhat... One of the options I'll be pondering until actually building benchwork will be where to start. I want to build it in sections, partly so initial construction can be on my workbench, and partly for when it needs to be taken down. A lot easier to plan for now. I hope I'm not the one to take it down, but wouldn't put odds on it... This is one version, maybe too many pieces. Wonder if to start at the east end staging yard and work west, but "old and decrepit town" has the most interest for me. Which may indicate makes more sense to wait on it until I have more experience... Did I mention options? Cheers
Hi Dave You suggested a helix in this version and you'll see I've gone to two unseniced helices instead of loops (ok, took a year and a half, I'm a slow learner ;-). I'm hoping you'll take a look at my new version at http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...running-with-helices-instead-of-loops.116105/ Cheers Scott
