    Hey People,

Cleaning out stuff from my loft to get it ready for my layout. I came across Microsoft Train Simulator discs. Tried to put them into my computer and it did not work.
I am getting a decent laptop to replace what I have now, more room for layout.
What kind of games are there now, will they play on any good laptop or do I need a desk top?
Will my Micro Sim play in todays laptop
Same questions for track planning software

    Thanks, Zephead

Well, there are a good number of train simulators available currently.,
It all really depends on what you want.

There is the older Microsoft Train Simulator, there is the Auran Trainz series (The latest being Trainz 2012), there is Run8, and there is Railworks/Rail Simulator. (Just to name a few)
If you want a high quailty game, then I would go with any of the last three. (For Trainz I would get '09, '10, or '12, as they are the most realistic ones in the series)
If it is the additional content aspect, then Trainz, MSTS, or Railworks/Rail Simulator are your best options (Run8 is a very new game, so there isn't as much additional items for it as there are for the others.
If you are looking for a straight up, just driving simulation, then I would go with MSTS or Railworks/Rail Simulator. But if you are looking to create your own layouts or rail lines, then I would go with Trainz.
If you want something that is simple to start with then I would go with Trainz or MSTS.

As far as I know any of these games will play just fine on a good laptop, however some of them may run a litlle slow. Eventually though, it would be of benefit to use a desktop for these games.
