Hi, everyone. I found this board while looking for info on DCC. I've been in Model Railroading for over 30 years, but with about a 25-year gap in the middle. I was active in an HO club, the Pacific Southern, in New Jersey (http://www.pacificsouthern.org/) during the late 1970's, and when I moved to Florida in the 80's, I had neither the time nor the space for model railroading. About two years ago, I got inspired by a visit from my son, and decided to build an N scale layout. It's a switching layout, 18" by 5 feet, and actually is patterned after the section of the PSRR that's shown on the front page of their website. It is a terminus for the branch line, and was one of my favorite operating stations when I was active in the club. The layout is up and running, still a lot to do with scenery and structures, but it all operates well. I'm using DC locomotives powered by the PWM output from an Arduino, and it is giving me great performance in terms of speed control, even on some old engined I got on eBay. The turntable and lighting are also controlled by Arduinos. So, since I'm an Arduino geek, and always interested in new things, I started to explore DCC, which is how I found this board. I'm working with the DCC++ sketch and have posted a question on that thread. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing about our hobby! Walt Scrivens
Hello and welcome to TrainBoard from northern California, Walt. Glad to see you back in the hobby again!
Hi Walt, Welcome. Glad to have you on board. I'd love to see photos of your layout. Also curious about your Arduino PWM DC control. Though I'm not sure I want to replace an MRC Tech IV 280 that's become like a pair of well-worn comfortable moccasins.
