By the looks of it....a few people bought as many as they could...to resell on E-bayy at 3-4 times the original price. Investors and collectors...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I pre-ordered a bull hauler. One is enough for my line (I don't have enough roads!) It will look nice passing my TW Kenworth from the first set.

Don't be mad because you missed out. There was plenty of notice and time to buy these. I can't blame Pat for not making endless quantities. Why should he sit on inventory hoping people buy?

Pat is a smart business man. He makes enough to make money and not have excess stock. Excess inventory is a waste of money for a business. I'm sure people will get their orders in even quicker on his upcoming runs.

... or start your own model railroading business and see how it really works. It is not as easy as it looks.
Yes, the profiteers are annoying, but that is free enterprise.
There will be more releases, thus more chances to own them, but do not expect any extras as with most manufacturers these days.

If MT is the "Cadillac" of n-scale, does this make TW the "Lamborghini" of n-scale?
And yes, you get what you pay for sometimes.

Yes, I remember those days when the Con-Cor trucks and trailers could be purchased at almost any hobby shop, even years after each production run.

But, if an individual like Pat is going to invest a small fortune to produce some of the best tooling N scale modelers have ever seen, he needs to be able to produce models from the tooling that will not be sitting around unsold, whether at Trainworx or on the hobby shop shelves.

Unfortunately in today's world, unsold inventory, while nice in that it allowed the modeler to make purchases at his or her leisure, does not help the hobby shop or the manufacturer make a profit.

Honestly, with what I saw in those pictures from the convention, he'll have no problems selling out EVERY run of Every truck. There has been a yawning chasm of modern era vehicles for many years, And the majority if n-scalers model that time period. I mean, there are only so many 40's and 50's era cars and trucks that one can put into a modern layout.

I totally agree, but he needs to make sure the supply does not exceed the demand, and the only way to do that is the pre-order system.

I understand why the limited production runs are done. However, what really pi$$e$ me off to no end is how the same people gobble up all the items and then rape the John Q Citizen that couldn't get their hands on them when they first came out either via Evilbay or at a local swap meet, asking 2-3 or 4 times the MSRP price.

Free enterprise, I get it. And if we continue buying from these people all it does is keep lining their pockets. The only way to stop this madness is to completely boycott these sellers.

I for one REFUSE to get taken advantage of for such an item.

    Best Regards
    Ryan

Back in the day we used capitalization and punctuation. That inventory you speak of is why most hobby shops you speak of went out of business.
