    Carl,
I wasnt being to picky with the green stripe on my caboose. My N scale TM greens are all over the place ( the Atlas green differs from FVM, FVM differs from the microtrains TM green), so I looked for a green that was in the ball park of all the greens. I ended up going with a Holly Green acrylic.

On my HO stuff I was using a Krylon Fusion pumpkin orange and walmart Kelly green (both sprays). I sold my HO trains to my buddy when I decided to make the switch to N scale.
Here's a pic of the HO caboose project painted kelly green and pumpkin orange:

Here's the Athearn HO with the completed caboose, and TM gondola project (painted Kelly green). He had touched up the caboose with a different green paint so it appears a little off in this photo:

Here's a video my friend made so you can see the paint colors on the gondola project, and completed caboose:

marc, the kelly green looks like the TM green as I remember it, especially when it faded a bit and got dusty. What brand was the holly green acrylic you used on the N scale caboose?

I like the paint job on both the N and HO cabooses.

Thanks , The HO caboose looks really great now after some areas were fixed, and decals applied. Ill see if I can dig up a photo.

I can't remember the brand name on the holly green, I'll check when I get home. It's a small bottle, applied the paint with brush. I prefer using spray/ airbrush for anything I paint. In this case the little tiny green stripe I figured would be best with a brush. Funny thing is i never touched any of the paint in the bottle, just the residual on the lid was enough to use for the green on the caboose.

Thanks for this interesting thread on the TM. Does anyone know when its two F7s were used up until? I have found one shot of these online and had no idea the line owned such locos. Great thread by the way with some interesting shots of rolling stock which I really appreciate. Prior to the Tex-Mex Express operation in the 1980s, when did the TM give up regular passenger operation?

Ben, per a 1973 issue of X220 South I have with a Tex Mex Roster, the F's were traded in for GP 38's in 1967 and 1971.

Thanks, mate, I actually managed to drag that 1973 issue up online yesterday. That 800 was surely a candidate for handsomest F unit you've never seen ... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=468382&nseq=0

Another thing I wonder was when the GP28 got the paper air filter, because the shot in X2200 South seems to show some protrusion above the roof but the shot is taken in 1969, too early for a paper filter, I think. Of course, it might just be the spark arrestor.

My layout has been progressing slowly. Currently I have everything in boxes to work on gluing some thin foam board to the the hollow core door so I can "plant" trees etc. I'm following Kennth's layout idea, though going back up with the layout I may do a dual mainline as well as add a few more industries for fun, maybe even a scenic divider to seperate the "Alice" yard and to model other things on the other side.
Here's a quick video of a very short TM train on my layout before I disassembled everything to do benchwork:

Very grainy low quality video of the "shorty" TM express that I modeled. I have a minitrix steamer pulling this one since I havent changed out the Rapido couplers on the passenger cars:

Between Athearn and Bluford Shops, I am hoping at least one of them will do a Texas Mexican caboose.

Athearn did a Texas Mexican caboose in HO scale, but they are super hard to find. Would like to see another TM caboose in HO made, along with one for N scale. I don't understand why manufacturers would make the locos with no cabooses.

Craig, I have an undec Bluford transfer caboose & an Atlas Milwaukee EV caboose that I would like to have painted & decal'd for the Texas Mexican Railway, I also have Microscale 60-1417, 60-4373, 60-292 decal sets to add to the mix. Would you be interested in the project, if so, what would be the approximate cost? "marckim1" suggested I contact you, highly recommending your work. Thanks in advance, Frank George(railfann47@yahoo.com).
