Thanks for letting me join the forum, I had a model railway when I was about 7 but I didn't have any money to make it anything more than a oval track with cereal box tunnels. I can remember my friends dad had this amazing set up and the trains were tiny! I told myself that when i get older I'll have my own and I've started the process and it's time to choose a gauge. I'd like to go small because i haven't got a lot of space. I was thinking N maybe? we'll see..

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

N would be a good starting point, for space restricted modeling. Another thing you might consider are T-Trak modules. "T" for "table" top. Plenty of N scalers here, (myself included), who can help with ideas and suggestion. Pick and choose what fits for your free time, budget, available space. Visit our N Scale Forum area. Ask questions and see what turns up.

Moose welcome you to the forum and suggest getting a copy of John Armstrong's "Track Planning for Realistic Operations" book. Said book has a tonne of useful information.

Hi David, Welcome. I'm in N and love it. The beauty is you can build a rural branch line with realistic scenery in a small space. I think of it as an art form.
