I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me I just wanted to confirm it. I was standing at trackside and seen a SD60M with the horizontal headlights above the windshield removed and replaced with a nose light instead. These are the phase 2 units. The only thing is I haven't seen anymore!
That sounds about right, since BNSF has been removing high-mounted headlights and moving them to a nose mounted location. Your sighting is the first I've heard of it being done to a supercab unit. ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
Hello Jack, welcome to Trainboard These are the sort of detail us modellers need to know! Thanks for the input. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
i have yet to see one like this either.i'm new to the trainboard but i think i can get the hang of it.can you get any pictures of this engine?or do remember the number?
There are 2 SD60Ms in town and while i couldn't get pics today i'll try to get em tomorrow... I spotted SD9 6112 today as well, painted in the Heritage 1 scheme. This is the first SD9 i've seen firsthand in this paint. It appeared that 4 units, 2 SD/GPs ? were lined up next to 2 SD9s at the shop buildings so i'm gonna see if they get repainted as well. I'm not sure if Denver has painting capabilites though.

Sorry Ed, Did not have the camera in hand when the train went through. I did not realize it until it was to late. And dang goneit I wrote the number down but lost it.
Hey Alan, Sorry I am all ready hooked on this forum I check it everyday. Thanks for the welcome. Since I live at one of BNSF major yards I try to keep things intresting. I find alot of different things here in Galesburg and try to share it with the forum. ------------------ Keep on railroad'n
Another Galesburghead! YIPPEE! I'll be heading up there again soon. I have to go to the "Bridge Alter" and worship sometime! Ever go over to Burlington? Go too Big Muddies and eat! It's part of the "Ritual" when I head that way. Edelstine, Galesburg, Cameron and then Burlington. God I love railfanning this area! ------------------ BNSF RAILFAN-TO-THE-MAX! When you come over Hope your lucky to see the ICE train. BNSF just added another train to this schedule so now I have 2 running through here Only thing is there running times are sporadic I have seen them through here from afternoon to late at night. They use the Mendota sub(former BN line) and go to Cameron Connection crossover to the Chillecothe Sub(Former ATSF). I usually go to Burlington sometimes but I so much fun here in Galesburg.
Has anyone seen what I am talking about yet? You know what I have not seen anymore of them. ------------------ Keep on railroad'n
seeing as there are only 100 BNSF SD60M's Ive never seen a real one, but im going out railfanning on satarday so ill tell if I see one. Kevin
Harold Riley (sd75mac on trainboard) had some photos of an SD60M with the nose lights on his site at www.phcomputing.com You might want to Email him as I couldn't find the photo. ------------------ Craig Martyn Best Looking Models Around Custom detailing AND N scale detail parts. I saw nose lights on BN SD60M 9274 as it passed by on a w/b stack train this morning at Fullerton, Ca. Sorry, no pics....my camera was in my truck, and it was too overcast for pics anyway! ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
Thank God! I am not crazy after all. I guess the BNSF is going to have nose lights on everything now and I guees they started with the SD60M'S. Any body see if the 9299 had it too I did not check and see if that one was done too. ------------------ Keep on railroad'n

The pics at Qstation.org don't have the nose lights, but that version of the H2 is slightly different. The sill stripe being yellow messes it up IMO... Also the ditch lights are green, as are the front handrails. I hope this isn't how all the H2 repaints look.
Later i was comparing the photos, and it looks like 9299 has the Dash 9 version of the H2 with the 3 stripes on the bottom. But i don't know where the sill stripe came from...
