As an update. I screwed up the paint on my original tractor that I was going to do white/purple on. I repainted it solid purple and have started another one that will be the two color version. The purple looks black in the following jpg's but is deep purple. I will add grill etc this weekend. Thanks for looking and as always "have fun", Carl
Hemi - based on the deep purple comment above and your "handle", I would guess that you are a Mopar man. Won't hold that against you! Thanks for the comment. Here is another step to show. the cab and sleeper are not glued in place yet as I am working on some side mirrors and I have made stacks with mufflers. I will make that the final install. Oops, I made some spots to put on front window and spots for the rear of the sleeper. Also, I need to re-chrome the filters............................................................... These images do not show it but I put "glass" in the windows. The glass is actually thin plastic from 3 ring binder sheet protectors. Looks convincing up close. Here is my next project. Not sure but I think I will put the purple on this tractor as in my 1:1 picture............ Thanks for looking, Carl
Wow Carl, can I send you some 1954 20 foot SP trailers from my TOFC car, and pay you to paint them PMT Daylight colors? I’ll even provide 30 footer for comparison. Just kidding. Really nice work, look forward to seein more!
Carl, I'm Plum Crazy for purple... If it's In Violet, I'm in... Ok, no more Mopar dad jokes... Seriously, though, that truck is gorgeous.
I did not realize that it has been 90 days since I started this thread and build. As I mentioned early on I have let life events get to me and have not, until recently, got back into the swing of things, The project is finished and here are some images. It did not turn out as I wanted, see 1:1 picture on 1st page. The next one will come closer. The trailer is a Mark Watson 3D print and the tractor is a Shapeways print with the designer being "N Scale Addict". His design and cad work are great. the Shapeways print leaves a whole lot to try to fix. I gave up. It has turned out OK but not what really turns me on. All of these are prints with me scratching the snow chain rack, side mirrors, and the "bull hauler" stacks. The large diameter stacks are of course for the large cat power. I used Molotow for the chrome, it is not very durable. I even found some baby moons that look more like full moons, but are OK. I do think the sun visor is too large and too thick, but tolerable. I want to thank each and everyone of you for the comments and support you have shown me the past 90 days. Everything should be back to normal next Tuesday. Here she be..................... Next one has begun............... Thanks for looking and as always, have fun, Carl
Really nice Carl. As creators we see the imperfections a viewer will not, don’t let it get you down! Have you considered clearing the Molotow to protect it?
Richard, Thanks for the boost. I have run a test with a KRYLON Clear Acrylic Coating and it dulled the Molotow considerably. I have a couple of Alclad Gloss coat coming in mail tomorrow. I shall paint some plastic spoons with all the different types of paint I have and apply Molotow and Alclad chrome and then different gloss to see how the finishes react. BTW, nice work on the Daylight. Carl
