Some of you may or may not be aware that a new museum has opened in the last few months. The Okla. Railway Museum. Haven't been able to get to OKC during their open hours yet, but have heard lots of good reports.

What is the fare for two to ride one of your trips?

Are they reguarly scheduled, or occasional?

How do we find out when one is going to occur?

    Beast,

I have heard that the town of Guthrie has a couple of old passenger cars and would like to start a tourist line there. Are these people in Guthrie aware of the new museum venture in OKC.?

My mom is moving to Guthrie next year and wants to be involved with the rail operation if it comes to be.

    big al,
i've asked around and have not ever found out who is involved with the guthrie venture, but i imagine that they are probably familiar with the museum efforts. i'm a new fan of railroads of late, so i don't know a whole lot of other train enthusiasts. i had heard that the cars in guthrie were supposed to be converted into a dinner train that would run to the town of cresent, don't know for sure, but i have heard multiple sources to back up that story, but no peoples names were mentioned. guthrie is a different town, but the people are pretty friendly! :D

    bigal,
more information on the guthrie stuff:
a trust has been formed and approved to accept abandoned track from guthrie to fairmont?? (roughly 35 miles). the trust (composed of members of the local arts and historical society) now have to raise money to renovate the track and begin development of the excursion train (with the cars that had already been donated). apparantly, the dept. of trans. wouldn't give the track to the council, they wanted to give it to the city, but the city didn't want the liability, so they wouldn't accept it. pending final approval by the dept. of trans, i think the ball may be rolling if funding can be secured. i'll keep ya'll posted as i hear more on the news.
