Anybody have any news/opinions/pics of the new Metra locomotives coming in from the TTCI? I live in chicago on the line that will be using the replacements (milwaukee district) and i hate the new locomotives. ive talked to a number of metra engineers and none say they were consulted about the design, because what engineer would put a desktop in it!? I guess the designers have esp and think the crews like em. i love the F40PH and F40C (6-axle brothers). as one amtrak engineer put it, the new units arent much better than "anal suppositories on wheels". i like the the P40s better than these mp36-dash-whatever they are. did it feel this way when they got rid of the E/F units? thanks guys dave
I'll be in chicago next week, so I'll have to try and get a look at these. which routes did you say they were on?
They arent in revenue service yet, but they should be by late january. right now they should be in the middle of testing them, but i havent seen any on the Milwaukee District (line to fox lake, ill). I want to see them now but i know ill be sick of looking at them when they get here. oh well. long live the F40C! dave
