    KCS + NS = ?

What is interesting is that KCS and NS have recently entered an agreement to improve the KCS Meridian Speedway (Meridian, MS to Shreveport, LA) whereby KCS provides the labor and trackage rights, and NS provides $300 Million. Now if that is not the lead up to a merger, I don't know what is....:eek:mg:

Ya know, unit trains on a single RR between Mexico and the entire eastern half of the US might not be such a bad idea. Both KCS and NS seem to be able operate efficient and profitable companies. :teeth:

I'd tend to agree with Hank about KCS+NS. At present, it's logical.

The down side to any merging of KCS, is they do have an enormous long term debt. Usually, in any merger, to mitigate inhertied costs, the lesser company gets quickly stripped of assets, sees spinoffs/line sales, scrappings, and layoffs..........

I've heard so many rumors of mergers over the past 10 years it isn't funny. And the following mergers fell through:

    BNSF+CN

    IC+KCS

As far as any new mergers, I may not be from Missouri, but you'll have to show me.

    Not rumors. Facts.

I'll believe theres another merger when I not only see the press release, but the paint scheme of the merged/mangled megarailroad pass by my viewfinder.

    Thus saith the skeptic...... ;)
