Hello all, Just starting a layout (after thinking about it for 35 years). After looking at your many posts I think I can gain a lot of info. Regards Ferrohippo
Iron Water Horse... from Oz... will you be modeling Australian prototypes? Would love to see those and get your take on railroading in your country. Welcome aboard.
Thanks for the welcome. My scale of choice is HO; roads of choice Santa Fe, SP & UP; period of choice 1930s to 1960s. Akirasho, just Iron Horse will do. After our floods early this year I'll leave water out. I won't be modelling Australian prototypes. US model equipment is a lot cheaper and (to a foreigner) more interesting and exotic. We have an interesting real railroad scene in this country. Queensland (my state) still operate on 3ft 6in gauge while most of the rest of Australia is standard gauge. We do OK though - our long distance passenger trains along the coast exceed 100 mph in places.
You do a damned sight better than us in some ways, mate. The Indian-Pacific Express is privately owned and operated. I'd give all four of my eye teeth to ride that one.
Welcome to TrainBoard! Keep us posted on your progress. Perhaps a track plan and a few photos as you go along?
