    Hello Everyone,

My name is Johnny I am 27 and am a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Looking to meet great people and hopefully to get some great feedback. I know there are some fellow Marines here so Oorah! and Semper Fi

I have been lurking around this forum quite some time now trying to get some info about bnsf, but could only find information about conductor trainees. Here is the lowdown I just received an email for the pre-employment test and interview for Track Maintenance here in Fresno, CA. My concern is how do I prepare myself for these test:

Listen to and follow oral instructions.
    Read and understand written material.
Respond to questions/items on the tests and mark answers on answer sheets

I hate tests and always get so nervous!!! if anyone has gone through this, would be awesome to get some feedback from you guys out there.
My pre-employment testing date is on DEC. 15th one more question how should I dress and how many copies of my resume should I bring.

Thanks everyone looking to hearing back from you guys.

    Johnny

I know nothing about running real trains or working for a railroad.

But one thing that might help you during the interview is to remember that your previous experience was with a large organization where discipline was very important, and where in some cases other people's lives might depend on you doing things properly. I would think these would be attractive attributes from the interviewer's perspective. Thanks for your service, and I wish you the best of luck.

The tests are pretty general, mostly simple logic and psychological reactions(ie. If you saw your buddy stealing company material would you...A/tell him to cut you in on the deal, B/ignore it, it ain't yours. C/report it to your supervisor.)
There is also some simple math. ie. You give a customer 47 cents change for a purchase. What is the fewest number of coins you could do that?
Those aren't the questions but you get the drift.
I don't have to tell a Marine how to dress, but dress with clean clothes that are in good repair. Business casual is good for a railroad job interview. NO T-shirts, no shirts or clothing describing or advertising booze, tobacco or drugs. BTW if you do smoke, don't smoke in the interview or the building.
Railroad buildings and equipment are all non-smoking areas. Your hair is probably short already and you are most likely clean shaven. Be sure your hair is neat and groomed, a "Mohawk" or Mullet is not a way to impress a personnel wonk. If facial hair is part of your physical description, be sure it is trimmed, groomed and clean. Hint, if it ain't on your driver's license...lose it!
Thats about it! Break a leg! Ooooorah!

Good luck with the interview. I'm sure you will do well. Let us know hoe it goes if you get a chance. I would think signal maintainer will allow you to keep close tabs on the flora and fauna of the BNSF right-of-way. Probably keep close tabs on the weather, too! Good luck and welcome home! Thanks for your service.
