I agree that I would rather have seen #6 turnovers instead of #4's. The only reason I can think of is that Kato has many customers with extremely limited layout space and the #4's allow the entire section to be shorter. It can now be placed into any layout plan where there is a single pair of the 248mm straights.

I want #4 'cause they are best for T-Track layouts. Its great but as has been said I would want wood ties. It fits nicely into a 308mm module.

These are designed to 'flow' with the modern, concrete tie wreckage...two no 4 turnouts cost quite a bit more than the 31.50 these are being sold for on EBay...and, I'm thinking these are a lot more stable, just as the double crossover is...

I have to disagree with you here. The new single crossover is too short for T-Trak, in that it will require a couple of single 62mm filler pieces (or one 62mm double track section) because it is only 248mm long while standard T-Trak modules are 310mm track length. Using a filler piece will mean that the crossover can't be centered on a standard single T-Track module. The double crossover is perfect for T-Trak because it is 310mm long. A number six crossover would have the same footprint, just two less turnouts and no crossing. Then, all you would need would be the one crossover track, no other track pieces would be needed to make it fit on a standard module, and it would be centered on the module, rather than offset to one side or the other.
