Some neat new stuff has been announced at the Hobby Show going on in Chicago this week! I can't be there, but thanks to email and email groups, product announcements can be given almost instantly. One of the members of an email list I'm on reports that Atlas has announced GE B40-8's in HO, in 8 roadnames: ATSF, Conrail, CSX, LMX, Susquehanna, NS, Cotton Belt, and UP. A B23-7, in various phases AND high/low nose, was announced for those lucky N-scalers...no fair! An ACF Pressureaide Covered Hopper was also announced for both HO and N. From Athearn, a 53' Jindo Corrugated Container for APL/Pacer Stacktrain was announced (in HO, naturally!). For info on this particular one, check out the Hot News section of http://modelintermodal.com/ . Things keep getting better and better....I hope I hear more new announcement! ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
That's GREAT! I also heard (and actually ordered) HO scale Monorail sets - in 4 different color strips. ER Models is importing them from Australia.
You guys might want to keep tabs on this site. http://www.onerrave.com They have a complete report on the Chicago Train show, including all new releases. SD70Ms in CSX, NS, and EMD Lease (3 schemes) from Athearn as well as F59PHIs. Their new Genesis steam is the USRA Light Pacific (4-6-2). All the news can be found at the above site. ------------------ Corey Lynch Pres - Rensselaer Model RR Society NEB&W RR http://www.rpi.edu/~lynchc/Railfanning/railfanning.htm - My Site http://www.union.rpi.edu/railroad/ - NEB&W
They must have updated the Telegraph at 11:59 pm last night!!! Cause i checked it before and it wasn't updated... Wow, a modern Dash 8 by Atlas! Excellent, i can plan on quality LMX units...
It'll be real easy to hold on to my wallet when it comes to the Athearn 4-6-2. I pre-ordered three of the Athearn Mikes and was so disappointed!! Don't know yet if they corrected the weight/balance problem on the Pacific, but that blasted stepped stack has shown up again. Mantua and others were casting good looking stacks 50+ years ago. Why Athearn can't do better than this is beyond my figuring. At any rate, I'll wait for a Bachmann Spectrum. (Two years ago I couldn't imagine saying that!) Chuck P. Chuck P.
I at least partly agree with you on the Athern steamers. Athern has done an excellent job in producing a well running and more or less affordable model. Where they totally missed the boat is in the detial department. I really dont know why they wouldnt go after the Bachman -Lifelike market. Could it be that these locos. were concieved in the time before Bachman and Lifelike came out with their models?.....Mike ------------------ Its only Money !!

Despite some detail problems I will take the Athearn over the Bachman anyday. I have some Spectrum 2-8-0's and they all run poorly especially compared to my 2 Athearn Mike's and P2K 0-8-0's. The Spectrums do look great however and with a little more work and break-in time perhaps they will become at least acceptable. ------------------ No! Your track is not clean.
For modern intermodal equipment check out the PPW/A-Line website. They have a straddle loader as an assembled model due out, hopefully, in the near future.. ! ------------------ 'J'
