Hi all, this is my first post and I look forward to chatting with everyone. I am brand new to model railroading but I have always had a fascination with trains. Now that I'm older I have the space and resources to create my first layout. I have done some research and have been considering starting an N scale layout. I hope that some of you will give me some suggestions on what to do and where to start. I'm just trying to figure out what would be a good starter set or if I should buy separate pieces. Any and all help, suggestions, and opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Take care.

Welcome aboard, and congratulations on your decision to go with N(ormal) scale. Tell us a bit about what kind of trains interest you and we'll be happy to push our opinions... er, gently guide you to what you're looking for. :tb-tongue:

Thanks PW&NJ. I am interested in freight trains, with locomotives such as BN, Sante Fe, Union Pacific, BNSF, etc.(From what I see online) I'm not realy sure what those would be classified as. I do know I'd like to include a turnout so that I can have a couple of coal cars set up under a coal building.(Forgive my ignorance if I've made wrong statements/naming) I just see all these different options online but I guess I shouldn't get too ahead of myself. Thanks for the help.

It's not too complicated. Read ask questions, and soon you'll have the terminology all picked up!

Very wise! Take your time. Look over the many possibilities. Get ideas. Doing so will save you valuable time, MONEY and avoid possible frustration.

    Welcome to TrainBoard!
